Membership of the Automatic Cup Scheme made compulsory
28th April 2007

Ticket prices have risen by double figure percentage points for the third time in a row and the average Manchester United season ticket for all 19 home league games is now forty four percent more expensive than it was before the Glazers' takeover.

On top of this, all season ticket holders are now required to join the automatic cup scheme and so commit themselves to buying tickets for all three cup competitions, whether they want them or not.

If we play just three games in each of these cup competitions then the real price of a season ticket that cost around £400 in 2004/2005 jumps to well over £1000.

Season tickets used to guarantee a seat at cup semi-finals and finals.

Now all they give is the chance to enter a draw (and with more than 64,000 supporters chasing around 25,000 tickets the odds aren't even that good).

Charging more money for season tickets that have, at the same time, been reduced in status to that of the old LMTB's is a good trick

but only if you can get away with it!
