When is a season ticket waiting list not a season ticket waiting list?

Last year United introduced a "One Year Season Ticket".
No-one is quite sure why these tickets were introduced, since they are no different to any other season ticket, as they all run from year to year but one theory was that this was done to hide the fact that not all the season tickets that were made available last year could be sold.
This year many season ticket holders have been unhappy with being forced to buy cup tickets they don't want along with the tickets for the league games that they do and so many of these have been thinking about not renewing.
United have made sure that these people know that there is a 14,000 waiting list and sent out the clear message that "if you don't pay, then someone else will".
That makes the integrity of this 14,000 waiting list quite important as it is clearly being used as a major marketing tool.
If it is true, then no problem but if it is not then that is a different matter.
How then have "One Year Season Ticket" holders, that is, people who already hold a season ticket, been included on this this "waiting list"?
If this is a genuine mistake then the Club needs to hold its hands up and say so, if it is not then it needs to hang it's head in shame.
When is a waiting list not a waiting list?
When the people on that list have already got the thing they are supposedly waiting for!

The deadline for renewal of Season Tickets was Friday 8th June.
Permanent Season Ticket Holders
If you have not already renewed your seat then we strongly urge you to do so, at this stage we are unable to guarantee that your seat is still available and books may need to be allocated on a best available basis.
One Year Season Ticket Holders
A small number of permanent book holders have chosen not to renew their facility during this renewal period, we are pleased to announce that a number of permanent books will be available in various areas of the stadium (subject to availability) on a first come first served basis to One Year Season Ticket Holders, prices range from £475.00 to £836.00.
It will not be possible to upgrade your book until Monday 18th June through to Wednesday 20th June, at this stage please telephone, if you choose to upgrade, you will no longer be on the season ticket waiting list.
If you decide to retain your One Year Book or have chosen not to renew this year, you will automatically be removed from the Season Ticket waiting list.
