AGM 2000/2001

The IMUSA AGM was held in the upstairs room at a crowded O'Briens in Stretford, on the 31st May, 2001.

After Mark Longden (Chair) welcomed everyone to the meeting, the 2000/01 committee and officers group was dissolved and Nick Clay was elected to chair the next part of the proceedings. The minutes of the previous AGM were accepted and Nick called upon the outgoing officers to present their reports of the 2000/01 season. An amendment to the constitution was then agreed which will alter IMUSA's financial year from 1st April to 31st March to one of 1st January to 31st December, to enable audited accounts to be presented at future AGM's.

It was very pleasing to see not only a large attendance at the AGM, but also so many members eager to stand for committee, as those standing out-numbered the places available. The meeting accepted the recommendation of the outgoing Officers Group and set the size of the committee at 25. A secret ballot was duly held, and the following members were elected to serve on the committee for the season 2001/02:

Dave Ali

Mike Adams

Mike Bateman

Monica Brady

Nick Clay

Tom Cusack

Steve Donaghue

The meeting also accepted the recommendation of the outgoing Officers on the composition of the new Officers' group and the following officers were duly elected on a show of hands:

Mark Longden

Vice Chair

Nick Clay

Vice Chair

Roy Williamson

Tom Cusack

Monica Brady

Membership Officer

It was decided that elections for the Fans Forum Representative would be held at the first meeting of the new season.

Summer Meetings

It was announced that there would be various meetings in the summer. These include a Membership meeting for any IMUSA member who wants to be involved in membership issues, a collaborative meeting with representatives of various fans' groups including IMUSA, the fanzines, Shareholders United, the Vocal Fans Committee and the Old Trafford Youth Culture. Finally, Shareholders United representative Oliver Houston announced that United and Celtic Shareholders groups will be meeting at the Ryan Giggs testimonial match on 1st August.

This ended the formal part of the AGM.

Policy Priorities

After a quick break, there was enthusiastic debate involving all present, which centred on the determination of policy priorities for the coming year. The debate was wide-ranging and included pricing and atmosphere, the Fans Forum, the behaviour of the United board, leafleting campaigns and the possibility of lobbying and influencing companies such as Sky TV.
